The poet Gichgeldy Ashirov was born in 1942 in the village of Sediver, Darganata etrap. His childhood was spent in a village located on the left bank of the Amu Darya. When the boy was not yet one year old, his father, Ashyr-dayi, moved the family to the Darganata state farm, which was created shortly before.

Our neighborhood with Gichgeldy Ashirov began in the fall of 1959. The poet's father, Ashyr-daya, was engaged in camel breeding. His mother's name was Ogsoltan. Fellow villagers and neighbors most often addressed her as “Oguljan-daiza.” However, the only person who called her by her real name was her husband.

These memories of the poet's life and the years spent in his neighborhood bring back warm moments associated with his personal life, family and the environment in which he grew up.
