Young talents of Turkmenistan successfully performed at the international mental calculation competition Junior Mental Calculation World Championship 2026 (JMCWC), held in Germany.
At the World Championships, held on September 5–7 in Bielefeld, more than 100 young computer scientists from different countries tested their abilities. The Turkmenistan national team included 12 schoolchildren who showed high results in several areas.
Among them, Mekan Nurgeldyev, a 7th grade student of specialized secondary school No. 41 in the city of Turkmenabat, especially distinguished himself. In the Junior 1 group, where participants under the age of 11 competed, he scored 2477 points and was awarded a bronze medal in the tournament. Thus, the Turkmen schoolboy entered the top three in his age group.
Among the representatives of Turkmenistan, other schoolchildren showed high results, gaining more than 2000 points. The owner of the first national record of Turkmenistan in mental arithmetic, Livanur Berdieva, showed good results in the age group of 15–19 years and was among the eight participants who achieved the highest results.
JMCWC is one of the major international competitions aimed at identifying fast and accurate counting skills among young people. At competitions, participants solve complex problems in a short time: in addition to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, they perform square and cubic roots, work with fractions, factor numbers and perform calendar calculations.
The guidance and training of the participants was carried out by teachers of the Kamil training center: mental arithmetic teacher Jahan Durdumammedova and mathematics teacher Halym Annagurbanov. They put a lot of work into helping students achieve such a high level.
The results won by Turkmen schoolchildren at the world-class competition indicate a high degree of preparation of the younger generation in the field of mathematics and mental arithmetic. Deep preparation, quick thinking and the ability to make accurate calculations allow young Turkmenists to achieve new successes in international arenas.
