White pilaf, which decorates the Turkmen dastarkhan, occupies a special place among the national dishes of our people. Rice, which is the main ingredient of this dish, is one of the important crops grown in Lebap velayat.

In 2026, held under the motto “Independent neutral Turkmenistan - the homeland of purposeful horses,” rice farmers in the region intend to produce 47 thousand 400 tons of rice. To achieve this goal, 10 thousand 200 hectares of land were sown with rice in the summer months, where about ten varieties of this crop are grown.

Growing new varieties on sown areas is aimed at expanding the possibilities of rice growing and increasing productivity. One of these varieties, “Galpakbash,” has been cultivated in Lebap velayat for the last 3–4 years. According to the experience of farmers, this variety has a higher yield compared to a number of other varieties. Among the varieties that produce good yields, the Munbash variety is also noted.

Rice farmers Agamyrat and Batyr Dzhumaguliyev, working in the peasant association named after Osman Sekhbetov of the Kerkinsk etrap, have been growing the Galpakbash variety for several years and are achieving positive results. Their experience demonstrates the importance of choosing the right variety and effectively using the soil's capabilities when growing rice.

Thanks to the dedicated work of rice farmers, testing new varieties and applying best practices, a significant contribution is made to the development of rice production in the region. The hard work of farmers will be essential to achieving the target harvest volume for this year.
