Turkmenistan is implementing large-scale measures to improve the social and living conditions of the population, ensure economic growth and expand the transport capabilities of the regions. In this direction, special importance is attached to the modernization of road transport infrastructure and the organization of convenient passenger transport.

Over the years of independence, a number of large projects have also been implemented in Lebap velayat to strengthen the material and technical base of the transport sector. Expanding the transport capabilities of the velayat has a positive impact on the development of interregional and international transport.

The international airports built in the cities of Turkmenabat and Kerki have increased the region’s capabilities in the field of air communication. In addition, modern railway and road bridges across the Amu Darya are among the most important facilities ensuring uninterrupted traffic flow.

The commissioning of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat high-speed highway formed a qualitatively new level of transport communication between the eastern and central regions of the country. The construction of a new bus station in the regional center, as well as the introduction of modern buses and cars into use, created even more comfortable conditions for passengers.

Currently, work continues in the region to ensure regular passenger transportation, improve the quality of transport services and strengthen road safety.

Projects implemented in the transport and road sector not only facilitate the daily travel of the population, but also create conditions for the further development of the economic, trade and transit potential of the Lebap velayat.
