The regional stage of the competition “Turkmen art of embroidery - our national heritage” was held at the House of Culture of the city of Turkmenabat. The event was organized with the aim of preserving and developing the rich cultural heritage of the Turkmen people, as well as popularizing fine needlework passed down from generation to generation. Skilled craftswomen from various etraps of Lebap velayat and the city of Turkmenabat took part in the competition.
The competition was announced by the Central Council of the Women's Union of Turkmenistan, the National Center of Trade Unions, the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO and the State Committee of Turkmenistan on Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography.
The participants demonstrated their abilities in three competitive tasks. They competed in performing subtle techniques of traditional embroidery art, revealing the features of national clothing and ornaments, as well as artistic representation of the historical roots of folk craft.
According to the results of the competition, the first place was taken by craftswomen from the Dashoguz etrap? No - from the Dyaryaganata etrap, who received the right to perform at the state stage of the competition. Representatives of the Chardzhevsky and Dyanevsky etraps won second place. Third place was awarded to participants from the city of Turkmenabat, as well as Sayat and Farap etraps.
All participants of the competition were presented with memorable gifts on behalf of the Lebap velayat association of trade unions.
The competition has become a significant event aimed at continuing the national traditions of embroidery, increasing the interest of the younger generation in needlework and widely popularizing the creative abilities of Turkmen women.
